In teaching golf even to beginners, it becomes apparent from listening to them that the way they are swinging relates to some information they have picked up either from a family member or a well-meaning friend.

And after years of teaching golf, what do you think is the most common misconception among beginner golfers?

Answer: They trace the club head along the target line, thinking the club swings in a straight line.

Fix: It starts with getting a better understanding of how the golf club is designed. How the handle goes into the hosel, how the golf club differs from a croquet mallet for example.
