Practicing By Hitting Lot's Of Range Balls

If you are a person who loves hitting range balls and only feels improvement or confidence to play from doing so, I say that it's fine.
This is why you didn't stick to the drills or mirror work given to you by certain coaching styles, as you just like hitting golf balls, seeing the ball fly, and digging your swing out of the dirt, or the driving range mat.
With this learning style, you only have to be aware that you can hit good shots with less than perfect technique and may be reverting back to old habits just to see the ball fly straight.
So the best way I found to teach this type of learning style is to give the student shot shaping exercises that work the ball in the opposite direction of the swing fault.
For example, if someone is flipping their hands through impact with an inside-out path I have them hit fades where the path has to work more to the left and the hands stay more passive.
If you can relate to this, you can still hit lots of golf balls and work a technique change into the process.
